Photographer Dominique Panhuysen has documented the entire process of the demolition works and construction of the New Amsterdam Courthouse (by Kaan Architecten). This process started in January 2017 and has continued until the New Amsterdam Courthouse opened its doors, in 2020. Twice a year Studio Vrijdag designed a photo magazine in close collaboration with Dominique. Each issue spans several months and covers the Courthouse’s construction milestones, such as the demolition of the old judicial complex and topping out of the new building. The total of eight photo magazines are now combined in a book. It is a testimony to the efforts of everyone involved in the demanding building process, from engineers and architects to construction workers.
